It’s the Little Things

How many times as parents do we try to over-do it? I am laughing at myself as I write this because I just posted about an elaborate 1st birthday-goodness Nicole! But that is exactly how God works… He whispers little convictions to us all the time time to keep us on HIS track, not our own.

This past weekend was my husband’s birthday and for celebrating we did NOTHING fancy! Yep! We had dinner with our family, played in the creek and made our own drive-in movie. And it was my favorite birthday yet! Now I am not saying that his birthday last year at the tree house cabin wasn’t special but this one was one for the memory books! It was all the little things! Seeing the kids expressions as they watched the movie outside for the first time, all of us snuggled up in a truck bed together, and literally slowing down and focusing on each other.

That is exactly the lesson I want to teach my kids as they grow up. That they don’t have to look very far to see God’s wonders and the reward from being intentional with your relationships is far greater than anything that costs money. One movie in the back of the truck bed doesn’t seem like much but I bet it will be something we all cherish forever.

Be intentional! Be present! It’s the little things!

  1. “Enjoy the little things in life because one day you`ll look back and realize they were the big things.”
And your “little things” are so very precious!
